Thank you for your interest in being in our shop. We know there are many of you out there doing awesome, creative work and we really appreciate that you think of us as a place to show your work. Due to our store sizes and our ability to represent well a limited number of artists, we add just a few new artists each year.
What we look for:
Handmade, American-made (preferably made in New England); quality workmanship and materials; uniqueness from other pieces we carry; uniqueness from what other local shops sell; items we think our customers would purchase and we believe will fit in with our mix. We are not looking for landscape photography, beaded jewelry, or products that use leather or pearls.
How to submit:
Please send an email with "SUBMISSION" in your subject line and include the following:
1. Four to six photographs of current work
2. Brief information about you (artist biography / resume )
3. Brief description of your work and process
4. Prices -- and identify if pricing is retail or wholesale. Also let us know if you are open to consignment.
5. A list of Massachusetts and New Hampshire shops that carry your work
If you cannot email, please mail to: Valerie’s Gallery, 26 State St., Newburyport MA 01950. If you would like your materials returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and indicate that.
Please note: We prefer not to meet artists during store hours because that's when we are focused on customers and can't give you proper and thoughtful consideration. We use email and regular mail to hear from potential new artists.
We will send an email to you to confirm that we’ve received your information.
Submissions are carefully reviewed and if we are interested in placing an order or have further questions, we will be in touch. Due to how many submissions we receive, we cannot respond personally to each email.
Don't be discouraged if you don’t hear from us. We receive dozens of submissions each year but can only add a few. So although we may like a lot of things, we have to pare it down using our experience and criteria. We simply can’t carry everything we like... so please be assured it doesn’t necessarily mean we don’t appreciate what you’re creating.
